V/A – Madhouse 2016

Madhouse 2016

Madhouse 2016 features an array of soul-laden and energy fuelled house music with some notable names like Till Von Sein, who opens the compilation with his smooth hypnotic number ‘Daze’ led by chiming marimba and wandering harp patterns. Watergate’s La Fleur takes things into darker realms with ‘Vervain’ via chuggy bass hits, swirling vocal licks and murky atmospheric textures, while JammHot lays the focus on fluttering Rhodes, a snaking square wave bass hook and hooky vocal hits.

Further contributions comes from the likes of Kiko Navarro with a dub infused house workout, Sebb Junior laying down a New Jersey garage vibe and Stefano Esposito & Timmy P with a stab-led, groove driven classic house cut amongst many more. As always Madhouse delivers high quality house designed squarely at the dance floor, this time round throwing a sun drenched feel to things for the upcoming Ibiza summer.

Mid June sees Sek return to Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse imprint with ‘The V Track / Days Like These’, comprising two original tracks from the Greek producer.

Madhouse has had an impressive run so far this year with material from head honcho Kerri Chandler, Till Von Sein, La Fleur and DJ Spen joining the catalogue. Here we see Apparel Music / Hudd Traxx artist Sek, step up with a fresh two-tracker in typically house-focused form for the label.

Up first is ‘The V Track’ which focuses on classic string sequences, chopped vocal hooks, boomy sub bass tones and a raw rhythmic drive to create a classic slice of deep house for Madhouse.

On the flip is title track ‘Days Like These’ which lays down a low-slung dropped tempo groove via loose organic rhythms and snaking bass licks alongside an amalgamation of smooth chords, vocal lines and swirling atmospherics.

Sek’s ‘The V Track / Days Like These’ is out on Madhouse Records 17th June 2016.

Late May will see Madhouse Records release ‘Madhouse Ibiza 2016’, featuring material from Till Von Sein, La Fleur, Jammhot and many more.

The long running Madhouse Records imprint is still very much a driving force for underground house music over two decades since it’s launch in 1992. Recent months have seen head honcho Kerri Chandler make a welcome return with his collaboration and reworking of ‘Track 1’ alongside Troy Denari, as well as material
from Demarkus Lewis, Voyeur and Nacho Marco. Here though we see the label push on with a look towards the summer with the various artists compilation ‘Madhouse Ibiza 2016’.

As always with Madhouse the compilation treats us to an array of soul-laden and energy fuelled house music with some notable names like Till Von Sein, who opens the compilation with his smooth hypnotic number ‘Daze’ led by chiming marimba and wandering harp patterns. Watergate’s La Fleur takes things into
darker realms with ‘Vervain’ via chuggy bass hits, swirling vocal licks and murky atmospheric textures, while JammHot lays the focus on fluttering Rhodes, a snaking square wave bass hook and hooky vocal hits.

Further contributions comes from the likes of Kiko Navarro with a dub infused house workout, Sebb Junior laying down a New Jersey garage vibe and Stefano Esposito & Timmy P with a stab-led, groove driven classic house cut amongst many more. Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax – Break / I Got

Soundcloud Link: https://soundcloud.com/madhouse-records/sets/kctdl1155-iban-montoro-jazzman-wax-break-i-got

Fast rising Spanish duo Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax join the roster of Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse imprint this April with ‘Break / I Got’, featuring two classic groove-led house cuts.

Barcelona’s Iban Montoro and León’s Jazzman Wax have burst onto the scene in recent years with their distinctively old school influenced productions, which incorporate elements ranging from tech house to jackin’, gaining the attention of many. Following a year in which the pairing made a significant impression on the Traxsource Top 100, and a string of releases on Strictly Rhythm, I Records and King Street Sounds to name just a few, the Spaniards now bring their sound to Madhouse to continue their impressive start to 2016 which has already included releases on Good
For You Records, MoodyHouse and more.

First up, ‘Break’ is a soulful house cut with a meandering vocal at it’s centre that guides the production smoothly through near seven minutes of crisp hats, jazzy pads and skipping rhythm, unmistakably drawing upon influences of the New York house scene and fusing these with interjecting modern twists.

‘I Got’ again features the duos inherent ability to root a warming infectious vocal to the heart of the action, whilst a collection of natural drums and a strong 4×4 kick keep the groove steady, resulting in a moving feel good number that concludes the release.

Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax ‘Break / I Got’ EP is out on Madhouse on 22nd April.

Kerri Chandler & Troy Denari – The Way It Goes [Track 1]

Soundcloud Snippets: https://soundcloud.com/madhouse-records/sets/kerri-chandler-troy-denari-the-way-it-goes-track-1

Mid March will see Kerri Chandler return to his beloved Madhouse Records via a collaborative single with Troy Denari, backed with DJ Spen & Soulfuledge and Steve Mill remixes.

New Jersey’s Kerri Chandler has been heading up the Madhouse imprint since 1992 and over the past two decades has released a string of material from himself, Dennier Ferrer, Tony Lionni, Voyeur and many more. Here though we see Chandler’s groundbreaking ‘Track One’ instrumental get a new lease of life with a production rework and Troy Denari’s vocal stylings.

The original mix kicks things off and sees Chandler’s infectious New Jersey swing and bumpy square wave bass hook run alongside bright synth sequences, horn licks and Denari’s expressive vocal contributions.

The equally reputed DJ Spen steps up next alongside Soulfuledge on remix duties, delivering a typically soul infused interpretation employing soft piano chords, smooth string lines, hooky organ licks and shuffled rhythms alongside soaring loops of the original vocal. The pair turn in a ‘Dub 4 Real’ take on things to follow, bringing the sleek melodies and swinging percussion into the limelight.

Lastly Steve Mill closes the package with his remix, bringing a more contemporary edge to things with a robust rhythmic drive while subtly blending echoing snippets from the original into the mix.

Kerri Chandler & Troy Denari’s ‘The Way It Goes (Track 1)’ is out on Madhouse Records 18th March
2016.

Brussels based artist Raphael Pujol aka The Checkup has been releasing an authentic brand of house music since 2014 via the likes of Large Music, King Street and BEEF Records. Here we see
Raphael add yet another leading House imprint to his affiliations, namely Madhouse Records an undisputed home for legitimate house sounds founded by Kerri Chandler in 1992.

Opening is the original mix of ‘What Happened’ featuring the soulful vocal stylings of London’s Lifford running alongside a New Jersey rhythmic swing, a solid square wave bass stabs and classic
chord stab sequences. A ‘Dub’ mix is offered up to follow, laying the focus solely on the powerful rhythms and soulful vibe.

Closing the package is Soledrifter’s take on ‘What Happened’ which strips back the vibe to sparse percussive hits while bringing an acid-tinged bass hook, ethereal pads sweeps and swirling snippets of the original vocal into the limelight.

Mid December will see Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse Record return with a two-track single entitled ‘Outside/Tunnels’ and coming courtesy of Spaniard Nacho Marco.

First up is ‘Outside’ which sees Marco deliver a classic slice of house laid out over eight minutes with all the defining characteristics of a Madhouse record, soaring piano lines, swinging New Jersey tinged rhythms and a choppy bass hook to smoothly drive things along.

On the flip Nacho offers up ‘Tunnels’ which takes things a little deeper with dusty 909 rhythms, soft ethereal atmospherics and layers of serene stab sequences resulting in a soft, mellow counterpart to the energy fuelled opening cut.
