Lyon based producer Ortella debuts on Madhouse Records this June to deliver his four track ‘RebeLyon EP’ which takes it back to the raw.
Considered by some as ‘The King of Clubbing in Lyon’, Fabrizio Ortella is known for releases on Deeply Rooted House, Kreattones and 124 Recordings, as well as releasing his Mad In Lyon Series via DJ Steaw’s Rutliance Records and heading up his own imprint Mad Recordings. With a versatile style travelling through garage, house and dub flavoured textures, his career has also seen him release tracks from Japanese legend Yasuo Sato and rising star Salem Jabou. Yet, it is his own releases that prove he can be part of the history of house, with Kerri Chandler’s label Madhouse giving him the perfect platform to express the deeply rooted, yet forward thinking ‘RebeLyon EP’ this summer.
Opening the single with powerful kicks, ’No Time To Chill’ combines staccato chords with piano arpeggios which effortlessly run over the top of the track, seamlessly bought together by a funk driven baseline. Second up, ‘Rakwet’ does exactly what it says in the name, channelling the ‘raw’ side of house with a teasing, atmospheric build up, whilst ‘RebeLyon’ takes a darker approach with deep bass stabs. To finish the package, ‘What?’ combines broken vocal samples with rave like Rhodes to provide a bouncy feel which would strike at the heart of any dancefloor.
